Turning things around
November 22nd 2008 09:08
Queen of the South FC are a club of great history, and one that was riding a wave of success late last year. They made the Scottish Cup final by defeating Scottish Premier League outfit Aberdeen, to book there place in the final & qualify for the UEFA Cup.
One season on and suddenly things have changed, Queens after a wonderful start to there SFL Division One campaign, find themselves searching for answers.
The season started off just where things were left from the following year, the team playing well & everyone fighting for positions. Now mid way through the year the club is sitting in 4th spot, and a lose against Clyde tonight could see them out of the running for promotion to the Scottish Premier League.
Queens not to long ago were leading the First Division and doing it in fine style, but a success of injuries has stalled the campaign & put Queens right back into the pack.
With only a hand full of defenders available for the past few weeks, the team has struggled to stay organised & no clean sheets for quite some time.
The time is now for every member of this squad to make a stand, and let the Scottish football world know that there run into Europe & Cup Final wasn't a dream, but a reality of the talent this club has got.
Gordon Chisholm will be looking for the more experienced players in Thomson & Dobbie to lead the line, in search of the win to re start the promotion push.
Dobbie is possibly the best striker currently not playing in the SPL, but his form has disappeared in recent weeks. If the Doonhamers are to get anything out of the season, Stephen Dobbie needs to find the back of the net & do it on a regular basis.
The fight is there, it just needs to be found again.
