Chievo shake things up, in late transfer swoop
August 23rd 2008 13:15
Newly promoted Serie A side Chievo Verona, have swooped late in the transfer market. Since being crowned champions of Serie B last season, Chievo have struggled to make an impact in the transfer market this term.
That was until this week.
Three signings in the one day have restored some faith that survival might be possible, Chievo were looking at heading straight back down to Serie B like a yo yo before this week. But now with the addition of talented midfielder Giampiero Pinzi, along with striking pair Antonio Langella & Pablo Granoche, the club seems destine to fight for the survival race.
The biggest coup of the week was the signing of Pinzi, the talented midfielder had spent a long eight years at Udinese before making the switch. In that time he has represented Italy on more then 20 occasions & will be sure to bring plenty of spark in the starting eleven at Chievo.
His partner in crime Langella also comes from Udinese, where he only recently signed. He leaves that club with some credits in the bank, and if he can find his feet down at the Veronese club, he will surely excite the fans.
Pablo Granoche is the highly rated Triestina striker who set Serie B alight last season, scoring a total of 24 goals through out the season.
Chievo have now sent out a message to there fellow hopefuls, the challenge has now been set for the season ahead. Reggina, Cagliari & Lecce who looked to have run away from Chievo, will now be sweating on the movements that the Verona club has started to shake up.
Chievo start there Serie A campaign at home to Reggina, on August 31st at the Stadio Bentegodi.
